Standing Firm. Stepping Forward.

We often pray, “God, meet me where I am.”

But the truth is, He’s already here.
He hasn’t moved.
The Rock is steady, solid, and unshakable.
It’s us who have to decide how far we’re willing to move toward Him.

The Rock Doesn’t Move

“The Rock doesn’t move. You must decide how far you’ll move toward it.”

That one sentence says it all. God doesn’t change to match our preferences, schedules, or comfort zones. He calls us to align our lives with Him.

Jesus isn’t a trend.
He’s not a phase.
He is Petra — the immovable foundation, the Cornerstone.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” – Hebrews 13:8

God isn’t playing hide and seek.
He’s not distant or indifferent.
He’s present, constant, and faithful.
You don’t have to search for Him, but you do have to decide if you’ll move toward Him.

He won’t shift to fit our culture or convenience. Yet He is always available. Always ready. Always steady. The one stable place in a shaking world.

Cornerstone or Stumbling Block

“A stumbling block if you resist. A cornerstone if you believe.”

The same Rock that holds us steady can also trip us if we reject Him.
There is no neutral ground.

Jesus doesn’t soften the truth to make it easier.
He doesn’t compromise His calling to keep us comfortable.
He invites us to be transformed — and that invitation will confront us.

“Jesus was deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts.” – Mark 3:5

That verse isn’t about anger. It’s about grief.
Grief because the Rock was right in front of them, but they refused to move.

Rock or Refuge

So what is He to you?

  • Rock = strength, permanence, stability, faithfulness
  • Refuge = safety, shelter, comfort, deliverance

He is both.

The Rock doesn’t just call us higher.
He also covers us, carries us, and delivers us.
But you don’t truly experience Him as your Refuge until you have surrendered to Him as your Rock.

You don’t need to find the Rock.
You need to stop resisting Him.

The Call

We chase what is soft, easy, and safe.
But those things cannot hold us up when life falls apart.

Softness doesn’t save.
Stone does.

So no, the Rock doesn’t move.
The question for every disciple is:

Will you?
